After

Friendships & dating after abuse

Healing is not a race back into a relationship. It is learning to feel safe in your own judgment again.

Friendships first

  • Re-open one healthy friendship with honesty, not a TED talk
  • Drop friends who only bond through contempt of women or through chaos
  • Group activities (sport, class, volunteer) rebuild social muscle without intensity

Trauma-bond residual

Missing her intensity is not proof you should go back. Intensity was the hook. Boredom with safe people can feel like “no chemistry” at first — that is often your nervous system detoxing.

Dating red flags (new people)

  • Love-bombing + future-faking in week one
  • Contempt for your friends/family early
  • Jealousy framed as “passion”
  • Pushing past your pace on sex, moving in, money
  • You feel smaller after every hangout

Pacing rules

  1. No big decisions in the first 90 days
  2. Keep your own housing/money autonomy
  3. Watch conflict repair, not just romance
  4. Share history in chapters, not a dump of your court file

Weekly self-check: life check-in. Worth work: your worth.
